The Glittering Court

Honestly? I thought this book had ideas and plot lines that were similar to The Selection by Kierra Cass. The main characters had similar vibes. They were both kinda manipulative and used other people to get what they wanted and to keep themselves out of harm's way. They were both forced in a lottery of sorts and had to go through classes to prove themselves worthy of being "nobility."

What I liked:

  • There was a fair amount of diversity, and I liked the world-building that was going on

  • The blatant racism and sexism that showed how hard Mira had to try to even get one match, it put a lot of things into perspective for me

  • Lady Whitmore (she went by Adelaide for most of the book, to protect herself) actually fell in love and didn't use her husband to get rid of the caste system (looking at you America (the character))

  • There wasn't a clear caste system

  • Mira. I love her so much

  • MIRA PROBABLY BEING A PIRATE

What would have made it better:

  • A map

  • If the token lesbian (maybe she was bi, I'm not sure) actually had a partner, instead of being the character that represents diversity (I'm not sure if I'm saying this right)

  • If the plot was less predictable (there were points where it wasn't tho)
