P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast's Marked

4.5 / 5 stars

So about two days ago this would have been 5 stars, but after reading some reviews, I realized how some phrases could be seen as not teenager. However, I still love this book with all my heart. I love vampire books. Out of all of the vampire books I have read, this is my second favorite, after Twilight. I have read a lot of crap about his book but, a lot of the stuff they say, I love about the book. It will forever be in my heart, It has touched me and made me laugh and so much more.

Zoey has a fairly normal life. A best friend, a (almost) boyfriend, siblings. That is until she saw the dead dude standing by her locker. She is marked, chosen, and starts a new life. She makes friends, actually gets a boyfriend, starts classes, and starts her life as a fledgling vampire. She soon realizes that her enemy is trying to do something terrible.

Things I Liked

  • It was HILARIOUS. " 'Cereal?' I perked up. I seriously adore cereal, and have an I heart cereal shirt somewhere to prove it"

  • It is really hard for an adult to express what a teenager thinks and feels in a book, I believe P.C. did an excellent job of showing a teenager's perspective.

  • Can I just say that I am Stevie Rae (except for maybe the country part). We act the same, dress the same, like music. I believe having a character that is a like you in some aspects really helps a story. The thing about this book is, the characters are so diverse that almost anyone can relate to one of the characters.

  • Unlike what others think, the summary on the back (or front cover depending if you have a audiobook, paperback, or hardback) does not give away the entire story. I will not point out names (or usernames to be more exact) but, this is one of the books that if you read the entire book then, it gets better. I can see why this book would upset some and bore others, I really do but, I promise the books get even better as the series progresses.

Things I Did Not Like

  • Um, what happened to Zoey's brother and sister. They really aren't ever mentioned again after the first two(ish) times.

  • I will admit that some of the moments are stupid. (Like Erik and Aphrodite in the hallway)

!!WARNING!! Book hazards: mentions of sex, cussing.

I really and truly love this book. With that said, I would not recommend this book for anyone under the age of 13. This book is meant for teenagers and is not the most appropriate book in the world (I suggest Dr. Seuss for that lol)
