This is yet another series that I have had for about a year now. I started this particular book about 3 years ago and put it down, and just never picked it back up. There is such a hype about this book, but really, when I first picked it up, I wasn’t interested. Then, about a year and a half ago, I was given this book, so I gave it a second chance. I am so glad I did. This book was nothing like I remembered it.
The tales of the Fae had filled the country. Everyone knew of the terrors and deaths. With the worst luck, Feyre kills a wolf in the woods. In a fast pace of events, she is taken from her home to become a prisoner of the Fae, but are they really as bad as she has heard? Are they all evil creatures, or are there good Fae?

Character Development
I feel as if we definitely could have gotten more backstory on all the characters. I want to know more about the fae’s backgrounds. We barely get to know Tamlin. I understand this gives him more of a mysterious air; however, I need more. Other than this, I felt like Feyre was very developed. I knew her like a close friend, if that makes sense.
Story Line
This is always the hardest part to write after the summary, trying not to have spoilers is so difficult; however, this was such a well-enveloped idea. To make it even better, it's a fairy tale retelling of Beauty and the Beast. I am absolutely in love with Beauty and the Beast, so this book, having similar themes, just speaks to my heart. After now reading the rest of the series, I would say this is the book that you have to sorta power through, but that is only compared to the rest of the series. I have read it twice now and can say I will happily read this book at any given time.
Readability
Maas has a way with words that I can’t even begin to explain. Her storytelling immediately puts you in the story directly in the middle. With most books, I look for mistakes in writing, or I try and feel out if the writer is writing the book for the correct audience, and Sarah J. Maas is on point with every book.
My Enjoyment
ACOTAR is one of my favorite books and an amazing start to an amazing series. I enjoy every read-through of this book and have told every person who asks me what book to read next to read this. I would read it over and over again if I didn’t have a choice. It just is a great book.
